I unexceptionally love this thing.Having recently moved out on my own, and generally just enjoying statistics in run-of-the-mill, I bought this to monitor my electric costs after two high electric bills in a row. The various results I found were degree surprising. My air purifier, which I bought here on Amazon, uses 85 watts all the time... 85 * 24 hrs * 30 existence / 1000 watts = 61.2kWhr * $0.20 = $12.24 a month.Well, that's quite a costly monthly supplement I never thought of. And that's just the begining. My Vornado fan uses 45w... my air conditioner, on high 6 (out of 12) spikes up to 1200 watts. Jeez.My computer, at indolent with external drives, uses about 250w. When doing extremely intensive things, like training a video, 310w.My light behind my computer desk, with five, 10-watt bulbs, doesn't truly use 50-watts total. No, it uses 50-watts for the bulbs, PLUS 30-watts seemingly just for the light unit to function...

I certainly love this product, it's one of the best devices I've aquired in a long time. When I purchased it a few years ago, I paid end to $50, but it was worth every penny. Some of my joy from using the device simply comes from the fact that I'm prying how much energy the products in my home use (I now know, for instance, that my cable box uses 15W of energy whether it is on or off, at that it wastes a microscopic more than 10 kilowatt hours each month, or that my fridge uses 350W when on, or that my laptop only uses 40W - a useful the score to know when I went to buy an inverter to use it in my car), but it can also be used to save energy (I found that hitting the switch on the up supressors of my computers at night can save me almost $5 a month off my electric bill). Plus, it's interesting to find out where all the power you use goes, and even what members of the family use the most electricity (you could do a side by side comparason of a child's computer with yours)...

How to slim down your power consumption
Two years ago, my verve consumption jumped about 40% and I ignored the problem until this fall's rate increases. I wanted to find out what I bought back in 2003 that's still eating power today. Put down the P4400 Kill-A-Watt unit, which is the only low-cost product of its type on the market today. I tried but slipshod to find its specifications online. So I bought a couple of these things to try them out. Here are the details on what it can do.* How big is the display: 4 digits.* What are the front-panel knob capabilities: volts, amps, watts, volt-amps, power-factor, frequency (hz), KWH, timer (since reset).* Does it forfeit its data in a power failure: yes.* You have to plug the unit into a nonswitched wall outlet, it can't valuation overhead lighting or large appliances.* It will report the amount of time (hours:min up to 99:59, then hours for about a year) since last reset but won't word you how much of that time the...

I was astonished at some of the things I found around the house that draw power just sitting there doing nothing. This thing is easygoing to figure out and program in your cost per Kwh.A couple of things I found by using this device:-- the extravaganza center costs me $11 a year to have just sit there in standby mode. This is a 32" LCD TV, surroundsound system, DVD entertainer, Wii, and subwoofer all plugged into a . If I watch a DVD or play the Wii, it costs me 40 cents a day, or about 3.33 cents an hour.-- My gaming computer (Dual Core, 500 watt power endow and 19" LCD) cost me $99 a year to run 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. That includes the incidental laser printing and occasional 2.1 speaker usage. So I turn it...

P4460 is skilful for electical circuits that loose power.
I currently own two Administer the coup de gr-a-Watt P4460 meters. This usage meter has a memory hold over, so I can use these at circuits that are switched on and off. When the entering electricity is shut off, the previous hours of use are kept in memory. When the electricity is turned back on, the meter will remain from where it left off. The older P4400 model does not have this hold over circuit. The P4460 is a fantabulous addition to the P4400 for studying home electical usage.

P3 Worldwide P4460 Electricity Usage Monitor
I give it **** because it could use a few improvements.NOT because it didn't bring off as expected.Bottom line - great device. Works exactly as advertised.I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting ahandle on realized electricity consumption and costs.Best feature: The ability to enter your own actual payment per KwH as taken from your utility bill.Worst Feature: No battery backup for reading the collected text once unplugged from the wall outlet. You have to plug the unit back into the wall outlet to read the imperturbable data.Suggestions to the manufacturer:1. Add a battery so the display can be read when not plugged in.2. File a short 12-14 inch extension cord so that you don"t havecrane your neck when reading the appliance while plugged into the walloutlet. Some outlets are only 12-24 inches off the floor.3. Make it 110/220 talented for 220V...

Result to a real problem
The fine kettle of fish being that most of today's electronics and the various chargers continue to consume small amounts of fervency when not in use and the waste can add up.Brief evaluation----------------This surge protector allows for up to 8 devices to be plugged in with enough room for the wider DC adapters to fit and it will protect them against power surges. What makes it 'special' is, of by all means, the remote control that will completely shut off all but 2 of the outlets so nothing, not even stand-by power is consumed. This is reliable because it saves some energy and I suspect that the devices for which the power was completely shut down are better safe in the event of a spike. With the remote on my desk, I found that I almost always remember to shut things down when I'm done.More details------------The following are uncommon, in my view.Positives:+ Simple remote control with a 60 ft. range and no line...
From the start seemed great, but switch is poor quality
We bought two of these to use for the computer and trade room. We wanted a way to turn off the power drain when items were not in use. The remote capability of this segment seemed like just what we were looking for. The first one we bought initially seemed fine and so we bought the second one. When the man Friday one arrived, the remote did not function at all. We did some trouble shooting and narrowed it down to the switch function upstanding not happening. If the switch had made a good connection, everything would have worked. About that time, the first one's remote started behaving amateurishly. The light on the switch was blinking as if a connection was constantly being made. Also, the switch started to feel a hardly any spongy, like connections were not being firmly made. While the surge protectors themselves may be fine, we bought these for the advertised functionality of the unlikely switch. We are an adult only house, no kids pushing the switches or playing with them. The switches...

Distant broke after 2 weeks
I was looking for something I could Nautical bend to my entertainment system, cable modem and wifi router and easily power all off to save power when not in use when I'm at trade/sleeping/out of town and turn back on when I was home. I liked this product when I first got it, it did what it said it would do and the remote worked from anywhere in my condo. However, 2 weeks in the unrelated would no longer send the signal to turn the unit off. I could manually turn it off and turn it back on with the ancient, but that was it. However, since the power strip is placed in an area that's not easily accessible, the unit no longer served its practicality.I've ordered a replacement through Amazon, I'll follow up after the new unit gets some use to see if this is a persistent problem.

I recently moved into a put up (3 Bedroom) and I just received my first electric bill covering a span of 25 existence. It says I used 9325 Kilowatt hours! The only possibility I can think of for this usage is my refrigerator. However, I only used it 9
9325kwh=9,325,000wh/25 time = 373,000 watts/day = 15,542 watts per hours! (15.5KW per H).
I'd have to imagine the meter reading was imprudent. That is like 65 amps at 240Volts (130 amps at 120V) every hour! A 4500W stimulating hot water

can someone give me a "ballpark" figure on the cost of contest an extra refrigerator with the info below:
1. fridge is about 12 years old.
2. side by side
You are talking about 10 bucks a month to run the refrigerator. You can shorten your cost by cleaning your coils which are located under the cooling compartment or in the back. I urge you to do so because you will redeem money and use less power.

What should a normal electric bill be for an efficiency (studio) apartment?
Jul 28, 2006 by AmyJo C | Posted in Personal Finance
I have hardly rented an efficiency (studio) apartment. The heat and hot water are paid for by the hotelier. I will not be using a/c, a waterbed, or electric blankets. The only appliances that will be on continuously will be my laptop, the refrigerator,
Are you stable you'll be using a light not a candle? Just kidding. Anyway, I think your electric bill shouldn't be more than $50 a month.
